The Co-Chair of the OPPOSITION BLOC, Yuriy Boyko, stated this during his working visit to the Chernihiv region, during which he visited the “Chernihivgas” enterprise.
He noted that when the previous government raised gas tariffs 8 times, and the current one continued this disgraceful practice and is still raising tariffs, then practically the entire population of the country would be subsidized by such actions.
“It is not possible to raise tariffs for such a space level because people are not able to pay UAH 8500 per 1000 cubic meters, which was approved by the government. With new prices, almost 80% of households will need subsidies,” the opposition politician said.
At the same time, according to him, the subsidies are not enough for everyone, because the budget has not sufficient funds. About 1.5 million households are cut off from subsidies. The number of recipients of social benefits is reduced, now it is 200 cubes. People have to pay at their own expense approximately 150-200 cubic meters per month during the heating season, and this is about UAH 2000 at new prices. If the family of pensioners receives UAH 2900 per month, how can they pay so much for gas? Of course, there will be indebtedness,” Yuriy Boyko stressed.
“The only way out is to reduce tariffs by half, to make a single price out of own gas and imported gas, and then people will be able to pay. The cost price of gas of own production should be UAH 1500 for 1000 cubic meters, its real price with taxes, salaries, investments should be UAH 2000-3000. This is a fair price, and it should be like that. Everything else is a corruption component, disorder and real problems for people who are forced to give up civilizational benefits and go over to firewood. What is it when in the 21st century the current regime forces people to chop wood in the forest and drown them?” the Co-Chair of the opposition faction noted.
He noted that at the time of his leadership of the Ministry of Energy, gas cost UAH 450 for the population, and it was a fair price, because it cost that much. “It is impossible to equate the price of gas of own production to the price of Norwegian or Russian and tell pensioners that they must feed the Norwegians or Russians with these enormous prices. It is just a shame. The current authorities are not determined to address this problem. This is a disaster, and after the change of power, the situation will be corrected,” Yuriy Boyko stressed.
