Co-chairman of the OPPOSITION BLOC Yuriy Boyko said this during his working visit to the Bolgrad region, Odesa Oblast, during which he visited the agricultural enterprise “Agrotrans”.
The politician stressed that the abolition of VAT benefits for agrarians in 2016 was a major mistake of the authorities. “The way the agrarians were treated a year before last is a disgrace. I want to remind you that since 1998 they have had the opportunity not to pay VAT and use floating assets. Due to this, the agricultural sector also rose – the agrarians received additional working capital, purchased equipment and could develop. Agriculture demonstrated dynamic growth. Most importantly, there were work places. It was absolutely normal civilized practice, which is used in any country that wants to develop its agriculture and the economy as a whole,” the parliamentarian noted.
“UAH 20 billion, which the farmers saved every year due to VAT benefits, was replaced by a subsidy from the budget in the amount of UAH 4 billion, of which half was given to the large agricultural holding “Myronivsky Hliboproduct”, which belongs to the businessman close to the president of Ukraine, and the rest was divided into the whole country. Of course, this is an unequal substitute,” Yuriy Boyko said.
“This decision should be canceled. In today’s conditions, when prices for fuel, pesticides, etc. have risen, agriculture needs support. For example, the company where we are now, because of tax innovations lost UAH 2.5 million last year. For him, this is a very significant and painful loss,” the Co-Chairman of the OPPOSITION BLOC underlined.
According to him, the current authorities does not engage in the real support of farmers, from it you can only hear empty declarations.
“After the change of power, we will return tax benefits to farmers. It is extremely necessary for them. When you come to any agricultural enterprise, the first question that they put is the return of benefits that supported and insured the population against risks,” Yuriy Boyko summed up.
