The governmental draft budget-2018 turns Ukraine into a police state with a poor population. This was stated by the leader of the OPPOSITION BLOC Yuriy Boyko during the Conciliation Board on Monday, November 13.
According to him, the draft budget proposed by the government for 2018 repeats the worst budget trends that were introduced by the previous government. “Financing of administrative bodies - the Cabinet of Ministers, the Administration of the President and the Verkhovna Rada, law enforcement agencies - the Prosecutor’s Office, the Security Service, the police is increasing at times. And at the same time, a very modest increase is planned - by 4% - for social needs, despite the fact that the government lays the official inflation rate at 7%. That is, in fact, this is not an increase, but a reduction in payments for social needs,” the Co-chair of the faction said.
According to Yuriy Boyko, the OPPOSITION BLOC faction will not support the governmental version of the Budget Law, because it turns Ukraine into a police state with a poor population.
In addition, the politician drew attention to the fact that the parliament has already overdue the terms for considering the budget for 2018. “According to Article 39 of the Budget Code and Article 9 of the Rules of the Verkhovna Rada, the draft law on the state budget is considered in the first reading by October 20, and by November 20 - already in the second reading,” the parliamentarian said.
Yuriy Boyko recalled that the OPPOSITION BLOC had proposed its own version of the Budget - 2018. “We propose to reduce payments to security officials, to cut utility tariffs by half and to save funds for subsidies accordingly. We also propose to put additional revenues in the budget at the expense of real inflation, which the World Bank estimates will be at the level of 14%. However, our proposals are not taken into account, so we will demand the budget to be adjusted for the needs of people, not officials,” the opposition politician said.
