The leader of the OPPOSITION BLOC Yuriy Boyko said this during a meeting with journalists in the corridors of the Verkhovna Rada on Wednesday, May 16.
According to him, the immunity should be neither at the president, nor MPs, or judges. “This theatrical performance, which occurs from time to time in parliament and is called the removal of immunity from deputies, must be stopped. There must be a conclusion of the Constitutional Court that the president, MPs and judges cannot have immunity. We will support the corresponding decision in the parliament. This is what all people want – everyone should be equal before the law,” the opposition politician stressed.
Commenting on the presentation of the removal of parliamentary immunity from Serhiy Dunaev, according to Yuriy Boyko, his only fault is that he is a representative of the OPPOSITION BLOC. “First, National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption recommended Serhiy Dunaev to correct a technical error in the declaration regarding the display of subsidiaries of the company in which he was the beneficiary. Then, even without giving the chance to correct the mistake, I sent the documents to the prosecutor’s office. Such selectivity is clear to us – this is pressure on the representatives of the OPPOSITION BLOC,” the Co-chair of the faction said.
The leader of the opposition also commented on the creation of an anti-corruption court. According to him, all courts should be reformed, and there should be no selectivity. “It is necessary a separate court, which is supposedly fair, and then it will be necessary to create courts for burglars, housekeepers, etc. – this is the way to nowhere. The entire judicial system must be reformed. And taking separately one court and calling it fair is selectivity, which will lead to even more mess than now,” Yuriy Boyko emphasized.
