Co-chairman of the OPPOSITION BLOC faction Yuriy Boyko said this during his speech at the Conciliation board on Monday, March 12.
“The key issue of the work of the parliament this week should be actions aimed at conclusion of the war in the east of the country. We consider that if the parliament and the leadership of the state work well, then the appropriate appeal, which is necessary for the introduction of peacekeepers, will finally be ready, and based on this we will be able to receive the decision of the National Security and Defense Council by the end of May. This should be done as soon as possible, because the announced ceasefire is broken, people are dying again, that is why we do not have time anymore,” Yuriy Boyko emphasized.
He noted that even after the adoption of the relevant decision of the UN Security Council on peacekeepers for practical implementation of this process and the introduction of “blue helmets” in the conflict zone it will be necessary at least six months. “This long-standing problem must be solved as soon as possible. Therefore, the parliament should support the international mediation mission that works in this direction, in particular, and today’s visit of the European Commissioner (in Kiev, Vice-President of the European Commission - EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini - Ed.) should facilitate the acceleration of the deployment of peacekeepers into the conflict zone,” the leader of the opposition stressed.
