The leader of the OPPOSITION BLOC Yuriy Boyko said this in his speech from the tribune of the Verkhovna Rada during the consideration of the draft State Budget- 2018 in the first reading.
He stressed that the OPPOSITION BLOC faction opposes the draft law proposed by the government, since it considers it unfair. “In conditions when 60% of the country’s population is below the poverty line, the draft budget sharply increases spending on power structures. There is an increase in funding at times of central government bodies, such as the Cabinet of Ministers, the Presidential Administration, the Verkhovna Rada, and security agencies - the Prosecutor’s office, the Security Service, police, border guards, all except the social needs of the country’s population,” the politician said.
“Increasing the financing of the social needs of Ukrainian citizens by 4%, taking into account even the official inflation rate of 7%, which is pawned by the government, is actually a reduction in the financing of all social programs that are important for people,” Yuriy Boyko said.
The parliamentarian emphasized that the OPPOSITION BLOC faction would defend its version of the budget, which was proposed to the Budget Committee. “We will insist on reducing the utility tariffs by half, and in the appropriate way, saving UAH 28 billion in subsidies, taking into account additional budget revenues due to real inflation, which will be at the level of the current year - 14%, as well as reduce the financing of law enforcement agencies,” the leader of the opposition emphasized.
“We believe that this will be true for people. This will be a budget for people, not for officials, which is proposed today,” Yuriy Boyko summed up.
