This was stated by the Co-Chair of the OPPOSITION BLOC faction Yuriy Boyko, commenting on the crisis situation in the Verkhovna Rada.
Speaking from the rostrum of the parliament, he congratulated the Ukrainians on the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Kyiv from the Nazi invaders. Yuriy Boyko expressed regret that the veterans of the Great Patriotic War are subjected to moral harassment, as well as, in fact, the absolute majority of Ukrainians suffer as a result of the difficult economic situation in the country. Therefore, today the issue of the growth of gas tariffs is perhaps the most relevant for people.
“First of all, I want to congratulate all Ukrainians and the Parliament on the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Kyiv from the Nazi invaders. November 6, 1943 is a significant event in the history of the Ukrainian people. On the eve of this date, we, along with the search unit “Dnipro-Ukraine”, have been re-intermenting the dead soldiers of the Soviet army who defended the capital of Ukraine for many years. Last Saturday, at this event, I met with those veterans, who could come. Currently, there are only few of them – 10-12 people. They are 90-95 years old. They surrounded me and asked to protect them. They ask to protect them from moral harassment of this power, material restrictions, as well as impoverishment. By raising tariffs and prices, they have all been turned into beggars,” the opposition politician stressed.
“But today, not only veterans, but all citizens of Ukraine need protection. We insist on the need to stop the increase in gas prices and reduce tariffs. To do this, we will introduce a draft law on the gas market, containing an economically feasible level of maximum gas prices for the population. And it will be a fair price, which will allow people to pay for gas, and not to sit on the needle of subsidies,” the Co-Chair of the opposition faction noted.
“I propose the MPs, most of whom, as we see, oppose gas price increases, to support this draft law. We, in turn, will support all initiatives that will allow to stop this tariff genocide, no matter who introduced them,” Yuriy Boyko stressed.
