The Chairman of the faction of the OPPOSITION BLOC in the Zhytomyr District Council Viktor Popov stated this, commenting on the government’s so-called "pension reform".
"The criticism of the "pension reform" by the OPPOSITION BLOC is fully justified and argued. It further deepens social injustice and leads pensioners to poverty. People are outraged that those who received a minimum pension have a surcharge of 150-200 UAH. They were poor, and they remain the same. And workers of pre-retirement age are generally at a loss, because they do not understand by what algorithm they will be paid a pension and whether it will be enough to survive somehow against a background of constant price increases," Viktor Popov said.
According to the deputy, "pension reform" discriminates against the rights of military pensioners who have not received any extra payments.
"Military pensioners in general were out of the attention of the authorities, because they did not receive a single hryvna surcharge. Their pensions remain not modernized and unadapted to the level of inflation, tariffs and prices. The contribution that former military personnel made in defense of state independence and the protection of the territorial integrity of the country where the war is going on is not appreciated. On a pension, which since 2012 they have never been recounted, it is already impossible to live. Is it possible to call the reform a total violation of constitutional rights? We will not tolerate this and prepare for protest actions to open the eyes of the authorities to the problems of ordinary people," Viktor Popov emphasized.
