Public figures, deputies of all levels - activists of the National Platform “Women for Peace” held a “round table” in Dnipro. By its results, they called on the president, prime minister, speaker of the Ukrainian parliament, members of the government, MPs to restore peace and social justice in the country. Participants of the “round table” also demanded to increase in the state budget benefits, compensation and benefits for the protection of childhood and maternity. One of the most important issues of the meeting is the discussion of the problem of insufficient social protection of children who suffered as a result of hostilities in the east of Ukraine.
“The main unanimous conclusion is that it is necessary to return the world to Ukraine only through diplomatic channels. To this end, we develop the women’s national diplomacy, when all of us, putting aside national, religious, linguistic and other differences, unite for concrete steps towards peace - help those who need most. Also, we were unanimous in the opinion that today require the resignation of a minimum of Ministers of Health and Social Policy of those experiences and experiments, which they put on people,” the Initiator of the National Platform “Women for Peace” Natalia Korolevska said.
“Women for Peace” of Dnipro support the requirements of the Co-Chairman of the OPPOSITION BLOC parliamentary faction Oleksandr Vilkul and his colleagues to abolish the anti-human experiments on human beings, which calls the power of “reforms”- health, education, pensions. We also support the demands for the dismissal and prosecution of the head of the Ministry of Health Uliana Suprun and her deputy Oleksandr Linchevskyi”, Co-Chair of the National Platform “Women for Peace”, member of the Dnipro City Council Natalia Nacharyan said.
She noted that the faction of the OPPOSITION BLOC in the Dnipro City Council systematically supports the reduction of tariffs for utilities, increase of targeted payments to veterans and Chernobyl victims. “In addition, more than two years ago we developed a municipal program to stimulate the birth rate and the real support of families with newborns. Within its framework, it is planned to pay a one-time material aid in the amount of 25 thousand UAH regardless of the number of children in the family. We also demand increasing the financing of city hospitals from the city budget to provide citizens with medical assistance,” Natalia Nacharyan said.
Based on the results of the “round table” in Dnipro, an appeal was made to the president, prime minister and speaker of the parliament. The first point of the requirements is to stabilize the situation in the sphere of childhood and maternity, to ensure an adequate level of social protection for children who suffered as a result of hostilities in the east of Ukraine. The appeal says that for four years the authorities deprived families with children of a number of benefits, compensations and state aid. “This has led to the fact that during the last three years: the level of social orphanhood has significantly increased; the birth rate decreased by 100 thousand newborns per year; the level of morbidity and infant mortality has increased,” the appeal says.
“As a result of hostilities in the East of Ukraine, a new social layer has emerged - children affected by armed conflict. More than 1.7 million children were affected by the war in the Donbas, over 200 were killed, more than 600 were injured. These children do not have state protection,” activists of the National Platform “Women for Peace” said.
They stressed that in order to solve these problems, prepared and registered in the Verkhovna Rada draft laws: No. 8384 to restore adequate social protection of families with children, providing maternal and child health and overcoming the demographic crisis in Ukraine; No. 6510 on strengthening the social protection of children affected by hostilities or armed conflicts; No. 6063-d on restoration of a worthy level of social protection of families with children and restoration of social guarantees to children.
“These draft laws have already been supported by the relevant parliamentary committees. We call on all to join efforts to consider and adopt these draft laws in the near future,” the appeal says.
It should be noted that thanks to the initiatives of the participants of the National Platform “Women for Peace”, more than 20 bills have been submitted to the Parliament aimed at strengthening the social protection of children and mothers.
Among the basic requirements of “Women for Peace” to the president, prime minister, parliament speaker, members of the government and MPs:
- to legislatively fix the living wage, which will ensure an adequate standard of living for people;
- guarantee full-fledged social support to the most vulnerable - orphans, disabled children, single-parent families and large families;
- ensure the protection of the rights of people with special needs;
- reduction of prices and tariffs for utility services to economically justified sizes. At the same time, the aggregate amount of payments for utilities should not exceed 10% of family income;
