On March 13, Kherson celebrated the 74th anniversary of the liberation of the city from the fascist invaders.
In honor of the Day of Liberation, activists of the OPPOSITION BLOC laid flowers to the Eternal Flame, paying tribute to those who died in the battles for the Kherson region.
More than a thousand participants in the battle for Kherson were awarded orders and medals, named after the streets of the city: Dorofeeva, Shengelia, Margelova. The members of the underground movement Kulik, Ladychuk, Girsky and dozens of others are not forgotten. The commander of the machine-gun crew "Maxim" Dmitri Kirillovich Peretyapko released Kherson in the 49th Guards Rifle Division, today he is the last living witness of those events. Together with other veterans, Heroes of Labor, war veterans and children of war, he was invited to a concert organized by the OPPOSITION BLOC on the Day of Liberation at the Kulish Theater.
"We are indebted to the veterans, on whose shoulders a difficult test was laid by a bloody war. But they survived, defeated the enemy and rebuilt the country! We will not let them rewrite history, this holiday should remain forever in our hearts," Vasyl Fedin, Head of the Kherson regional organization of the OPPOSITION BLOC said.
