The OSCE stated that it began monitoring the situation not only in the Donbas in the conflict zone, but also in Zakarpattia.
"The expansion of the OSCE monitoring mission shows that Ukraine is becoming a scarecrow for Europe. In order for our country to cease to be associated with epidemics, the growth of nationalism and crime, interethnic conflicts, war and corruption, we demand that the Rada this week begin to consider our draft laws on Ukraine's withdrawal from the crisis," Co-chairman of the OPPOSITION BLOC faction in the parliament Oleksandr Vilkul commented this news on his page in Facebook.
He noted that, unfortunately, everything goes to the fact that instead the parliament will again engage in political bargaining around the post of head of the National Bank of Ukraine and will not adopt the laws developed by the opposition to protect and support people. "As for external monitoring of what is happening in our country, the assessment of what is happening is important, but the power in Ukraine should become pro-Ukrainian, in order, first of all, to defend the interests of its citizens and develop the economy, and not rely on external instructions and act on orders from border", the oppositional politician said.
On March 7, 2018, the Hungarian Society of Zakarpattia, whose office was attacked two times, called for the deployment of a permanent OSCE mission in the region. Recall, on February 27 at night in Uzhgorod, the office of the Society of Hungarian Culture of Zakarpattia was completely burned. According to Hungarian Foreign Minister Siyarto, the decision to deploy the OSCE observation mission not only in Eastern Ukraine but also in the western part of Zakarpattia is caused by the need to guarantee the safety of the Hungarian minority.
Oleksandr Vilkul consistently defends the principle that the national idea of Ukraine should be a pragmatic approach to protecting its interests, then the country will have the opportunity to develop. He also made several demands to the Verkhovna Rada on changing the existing agenda and considering issues that are solved by tens of millions of Ukrainians – this is a package of draft laws of the OPPOSITION BLOC for restoring peace, supporting industry, creating new jobs, reducing communal tariffs and imposing a moratorium on their increase.
On February 26, 2018 in Budapest Oleksandr Vilkul discussed with the representatives of the Hungarian leadership and leading Hungarian politicians the prospects for the development of relations between Ukraine and Hungary.
It should be noted that the OPPOSITION BLOC voted against the governmental Law "On Education", and also submitted to the Constitutional Court an appeal for the abolition of this discriminatory educational "reform", which prohibits learning in one's native language. Also, Vilkul developed an alternative draft law, which stipulates that the languages of the educational process in Ukraine are the state language, the languages of indigenous peoples, as well as of national minorities. The Vilkul’s draft law repeals the discriminatory norm on the prohibition of studying in the languages of national minorities from 1 September 2020.
