According to the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting, Sumy has one of the worst indicators in Ukraine in terms of the number of signed declarations with doctors. Only one in four of the region’s residents agreed to this. Even lower figures in the northern region – Shostka. Only 9% of the residents of the district want to be treated according to the new rules.
The chairman of the faction of the OPPOSITION BLOC in the Sumy Regional Council Oleksandr Strelchenko says that such statistics do not surprise him, since people do not want to sign declarations with doctors, realizing that the price of the medical reform from Acting Minister of Health Ulana Suprun is too high – the life and health of citizens.
“Our “Doctor Death”, as Ukrainians call it, declares that the more the doctor will have signed contracts with patients, the higher his salary will be. She just wants to make doctors sellers of medical services that will fight for the patient. What will happen to doctors who will have a small number of signed declarations? They will simply stop paying their salaries from 2019! With this approach, Ukrainian doctors will leave the country. They massively leave now on earnings to Poland, Czechia, Russia. And we have no one to treat even a common cold,” Oleksandr Strelchenko said.
Such an illiterate approach, he believes, will simply destroy small regional hospitals. They will have to close, and their patients – mostly elderly people – will have to search for doctors for tens of kilometers.
“We need to introduce classical insurance medicine, as it happens all over the world, when the company pays for an employee, and the state pays for children and pensioners. These proposals were sent to the Verkhovna Rada by the faction of the OPPOSITION BLOC, but the current authorities do not hear them and are in no hurry to consider them. After winning the election, we will cancel this “reform”, which simply kills Ukrainians,” the opposition politician said.
