About this from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada MP from the OPPOSITION BLOC Oleksandr Dolzhenkov said on Tuesday, May 16, during the discussion of draft law No. 8116, which concerns the grounds for postmortem examination.
"This draft law is extremely simple and apolitical, so I hope that there will not be any political discussions around it. It is aimed at solving the problem that millions of our citizens have faced in their daily lives since March of this year, when, following the introduction of amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code, the procedure for forensic examination of the deceased was significantly hampered and bureaucratized," the MP said.
"After making changes in March of the current year, the forensic medical examination was made possible only on the basis of a court decision on the decision of the investigating judge or the court. There were a lot of speeches that this, they say, only concerns criminal cases. But, in order to rule out the possibility of violent death, in any case a forensic medical examination is appointed under the new procedure. And before people get a proper judicial decision, they simply can not deliver the dead to the morgue or bury their loved ones. To avoid situations of such a morally difficult expectation, my colleagues and I initiated this draft law," Oleksandr Dolzhenkov.
He noted that this draft law is really apolitical and extremely important. "The draft Law No. 8116 is aimed at eliminating the gaps and shortcomings that arose this year. This question is urgent, so I ask to vote for it as a basis," the oppositional politician called on his colleagues in parliament.
The majority of votes (235 - "for") the draft Law on Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on the grounds for carrying out the examination No. 8116 was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada as the basis.
