The deputy of the Poltava Regional Council from the OPPOSITION BLOC Oleh Sazovnov stated this, commenting on the government’s “plans” to raise tariffs by 30-40%.
“You cannot make such decisions, because a person simply cannot pay for gas. And if the hryvnia falls, accordingly, the gas will rise in price,” the deputy noted.
According to him, with such a tariff policy and social situation in the country, people will soon not be able to pay for them at all.
“In less than a year and a half, utility debts increased almost 1.8 times – from UAH 20.1 billion at the end of 2016 to UAH 36.1 billion at the beginning of June 2018. Why should a person pay the cost of gas in a German hub and plus transportation? There is own gas, the cost of which is 1200 hryvnia, add taxes, investments, plus what you need for development, but it will still be much cheaper. It is necessary to reduce tariffs at least twice and stop mocking the country,” the head of the regional organization of the OPPOSITION BLOC of the Poltava region said.
Oleh Sazonov recalled that during the previous heating season many cities were without heat.
“Remembering the Kyiv region, in February the city of Slavutych was cut off from gas. In general, the debt is almost all cities, which allows Naftohaz to arrange a gas dictate. In fact, Naftohaz, led by foreigners through the Supervisory Board, mocks the whole country. The fact that the whole country was put on subsidies, what made everyone hostage to the tariffs is the fault of not even management of Naftohaz, and this is the fault of the president and the government, which allow them to mock people,” the opposition politician said.
“It is necessary not only to give people the opportunity to pay at normal rates, but to take the country out of the social and economic crisis. With regard to tariffs, reducing them in half will reduce the cost of subsidies by 60 billion hryvnia. By the way, today the country spends on the subsidy already 71 billion. If the government still increases tariffs, the figures will grow to 114 billion. This is an unbelievable figure for the country and people,” Oleh Sazonov summarized.
