Head of the OPPOSITION BLOC faction in the Zhytomyr City Council, Deputy Chairwoman of the Zhytomyr regional party organization Natalia Leonchenko stated this on her social network page.
She drew attention to the fact that, to date, Ukraine in terms of vaccination coverage ranked among the poorest countries in the world. So, Ukraine and, in particular, and Zhytomyr region, are already suffering from the measles epidemic. Since the beginning of 2018, 31 residents of the Zhytomyr region have become measles, including 15 adults and 16 children. The most vulnerable are children under one year of age and younger school age.
And further experts predict even more dangerous diphtheria and poliomyelitis. There is no specific treatment for the above-mentioned infections, and therefore vaccination today is the most effective way to protect yourself and your family.
"We are threatened with epidemics of dangerous infectious diseases. The World Health Organization (WHO) beats the alarm. It is necessary to realize the danger and protect yourself and loved ones! Vaccination is the only way of salvation. Since 2009, half of Ukraine's children are not vaccinated against poliomyelitis. It is not surprising that in 2015 there was an outbreak of this infection in Zakarpattia and our country was listed in the WHO as such that it is unsuccessful from poliomyelitis. The situation with vaccination against diphtheria is not better. Last year, only 42% of children made such vaccinations for the first time. A revaccination against diphtheria and tetanus among children of primary and secondary school age covered about 80%, while in the adult population only 35% of people decided to repeat the vaccination against diphtheria," Natalia Leonchenko stressed.
Such figures, according to the deputy, indicate that the topic of immunization in Ukraine deserves special attention. Therefore, it is good that it is raised in society, in particular, the media.
"The problem is really huge. And terrible, because it is created by the hands of murderers from the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. It is this agency and personally Ulyana Suprun who, at the state level, "bring down" the purchase of quality vaccines and in sufficient quantities," Natalia Leonchenko said.
