MP from the OPPOSITION BLOC Mykola Skoryk commented on the statement of Prime Minister Volodymyr Groisman about the beginning of payments of "increased" pensions.
He stressed that given the colossal inflation and total price increase for all groups of goods and services, the current increase will not improve the financial situation of Ukrainian pensioners.
"At the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Prime Minister loudly announced about the increase of pensions, which today receive about 9 million pensioners. The minimum amount is 1452 UAH. Yes, of course, for a lot of people, these 100-200 UAH are really a serious financial increase to those kopecks that they received earlier, if not for one "but". This entire rise will immediately eat inflation. In Ukraine, everything has risen in price, from food products to all household services. Soon there will be payments with astronomical sums for heating. Not to mention the fact that by law the government is obliged to raise pensions annually for official inflation. In addition, the government is obliged to modernize pensions so that people who in different years retire from the same workplace receive the same amount of payments," the MP stressed.
"As a victory, without hesitation, the Cabinet declares that from October the taxation of pensions for working pensioners is canceled (previously the tax was 15%). At the same time, it forgets to say who introduced this rule. They introduce it themselves and they cancel themselves and thus draw themselves "a win". This is cynicism of the highest degree," Mykola Skoryk said.
He recalled that the OPPOSITION BLOC was the only political force that took a consistent position against the pension tax, for which, at the end of 2014, the so-called parliamentary majority voted. He noted that the opposition deputies appealed to the Constitutional Court a year and a half ago to cancel this shameful discriminatory tax.
According to him, the so-called "pension reform" is nothing more than an attempt to blur the eyes of Ukrainians. "In "the reform" lay a number of extremely negative norms, the key of which is a veiled increase in retirement age. Moreover, for modernizing and indexing pensions, you do not need to invent anything, it is enough to comply with the legislation of Ukraine, without introducing various kinds of harmful innovations. In addition, without any reforms in calculating pensions, one must start from a real subsistence minimum, and because of manipulation with figures, people are currently underpaying about 1250 UAH monthly," Mykola Skoryk stressed.
The politician stressed that the minimum pension should be at least 3500 UAH. This will allow Ukrainian pensioners to survive somehow in the current difficult conditions.
"OPPOSITION BLOC proposes to increase the minimum wage to 5,000 and the minimum pension to 3,500 hryvnia, by providing in the budget for 2018 an increase in the financing of social items by 100 billion hryvnia," Mykola Skoryk concluded.
