The OPPOSITION BLOC faction prepared more than 200 amendments to the draft budget for 2018. In case they are not taken into account, the oppositionists will not vote for the budget either on the first reading, or on the whole. MP from OPPOSITION BLOC Mykola Skoryk stated this during a briefing in the corridors of the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday, November 14.
The politician considers inadequate the government’s assessment of the macroeconomic indicators that formed the basis of the budget. "Inflation at 7% is too optimistic. According to expert estimates, it will be much higher. In addition, there is no question of talking about GDP growth of 3%, without clear actions in support of the national manufacturer. According to experts’ forecasts, this figure will be at the level of 1.5%," the oppositionist said.
Mykola Skoryk added that the government’s draft budget provides for a significant increase in spending on law enforcement agencies. "The government plans to disproportionately allocate 78 billion of budget deficits to various sectors. This money is planned to send not to support the national producer, industry, and social needs. It is planned to direct it to increase the funding of government bodies – the Administration of the President, the Cabinet of Ministers, the Verkhovna Rada and power structures. This is the policy of building a police state at the expense of citizens of Ukraine," the MP said.
According to the politician, the draft budget also contradicts the course for decentralization announced by the authorities. "For example, the National Health Service will operate with medical expenses. That is, there is no question of any decentralization on the ground. The money that the government pays for subsidies is also not enough for the next year. If today the debts for utility payments exceed 28 billion UAH, we are well aware that during the heating season they will only grow," the oppositionist said.
Mykola Skoryk noted that the OPPOSITION BLOC faction prepared more than 200 amendments to the draft budget. "The conclusions of our faction completely coincide with the conclusions of the Accounts Chamber and the Main Scientific and Expert Department of the Verkhovna Rada. If our amendments are not taken into account, we are not going to vote for this budget either in the first reading, or in the whole," the MP said.
