The MP from the OPPOSITION BLOC Mykhailo Papiev stated this during a speech from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada on Thursday, July 5.
“Today, the parliament has demonstrated true loyalty to European traditions, European approaches, European values. Today we showed our consciousness as those who were able to vote for an important law without a pro-government faction, and also because they loudly asked the president “Dear Mr. President, why in your submission to the Central Election Commission members there are no candidates from the OPPOSITION BLOC?” And, not having received a normal answer, we did not vote for such a composition of the CEC,” Mykhailo Papiev said.
However, he noted that the Verkhovna Rada as a whole is not ready for such conflict situations. “And why? But because the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada did not make timely the law on special and temporary investigative commissions and we do not have any instrument of control function of the parliament. Because we do not have and do not consider the draft law on impeachment today. Because we have many laws that actually need to regulate the full-fledged activity of the Verkhovna Rada in the conditions of the parliamentary-presidential republic, when this hall should be the main platform for discussion and resolution of all important issues of citizens of Ukraine, but these laws either are not taken out or not work. OPPOSITION BLOC insists that the Verkhovna Rada continues to work, if such a situation, then it is possible even without a vacation. Today we are ready to adopt the most important laws. And first of all, we all need to finally realize that there are miners on the street, so we need to put the draft Law No. 8362 under consideration and pay off the debt to them. It is the responsibility of the parliament, it is the duty of the government, it is the duty of the authorities. Let’s do everything we can to pay off the debt to the miners,” the MP said.
