May 15 - International Day of Family. Ukraine also celebrates this day. However, it is worth pondering: how strong is the support of the institution of the family on the part of the authorities?
As the deputy of the Zaporizhia Regional Council from the OPPOSITION BLOC Liudmyla Liubim points out, to create a family for a young couple, several basic things are necessary: work with a stable salary, housing (or funds for renting), the opportunity to pay utility bills, purchase necessary things and products at prices adequate to them earnings. And also stability in the country, where they have to raise future children.
"Is this all in Ukraine?" - Liudmyla Liubim asks. "According to the State Statistics Service, over the past three years the cost of basic foodstuffs has increased by 139%. According to the forecast of economists, by the fifth year in a row the double-digit inflation will be fixed (2014 - 24.9%, 2015 - 43.3%, 2016 - 12.4%, 2017 - 13.7%) . The state is not able to contain the growth of prices, which consumes all people's incomes. It came to the point that many families simply can not afford to pay housing and communal services. To date, the debts for housing and communal services have exceeded 40 billion UAH! And in the near future, Ukrainians will lose the opportunity to receive subsidies," she noted. "Where do people get money to buy "golden" meat and pay for "priceless" heating? The government does not care. Regularly announced information on the growth of the average salary in the country. True, the "average" 7000 UAH a month for most Ukrainians - it's a lot of money, because in reality people work for 3000-5000 UAH. And they are paid with delays. The debt on wages in the country is almost 2.5 billion UAH! Plus 1.1 billion "written-off" debts to residents of the occupied part of Donbas. For comparison: at the beginning of 2014, the salary debts amounted to 748 million hryvnia. People go to work and earn money to support their families, often leaving minor children's homes and elderly parents at home," the opposition MP stressed.
Liudmyla Liubim noted that the birth rate in Ukraine fell from 11.1% (in 2013) to 8.6% (for 2017). "Give birth soon will stop! After all, the government cut down almost all payments to children! If earlier the allowance increased depending on what kind of child the account is, now it is the same for everyone. Also, the government abolished the allowance for single mothers, even those unfortunate 130 hryvnias that mothers received for children when they reached the age of three. In order to receive at least some allowance, a really needy family must undergo a humiliating verification procedure, collect a lot of certificates and be ready for the fact that the inspectors from social services will often come to her home," the opposition politician stressed.
At the same time, the OPPOSITION BLOC has a clear plan - how to restore peace, restore the economy and raise the level of social guarantees, thereby supporting Ukrainian families and restoring confidence to Ukrainians in the future.
This plan, including, assumes:
- providing support for young families, restoring a differential incentive approach to payments for the birth of 2 nd, 3 rd and more children, as well as the resumption of canceled payments to children;
- containment of inflation within the limits permitting to ensure high rates of economic recovery and growth;
- stimulating the creation of new highly paid jobs to reduce unemployment;
- stimulating the growth of wages so that workers can receive a decent reward for their work;
- prevention of further growth of utility tariffs, restart of the subsidy system;
- peaceful step-by-step settlement of the conflict in the Donbas basing on the implementation of the Minsk agreements and ensuring the work of the UN peacekeeping mission.
