The state has not done anything to make the state mines profitable. MP from the OPPOSITION BLOC Konstantin Pavlov stated this on the air of the TV channel "ZIK".
"Part of the money that the state mines receive as compensation for the cost of coal goes to pay salaries to miners who risk their lives every day," the politician said.
According to him, wages to miners are not always paid on time. "Recently, money was allocated to this direction from the state budget, so the debt was repaid. Although, with such a system of management and attitude to the industry, it is not surprising that from month to month the amount of arrears on wages arises again and again," the MP said.
"Declaring the need to close the so-called unprofitable state mines, the authorities did nothing to make them profitable and as safe as possible. In addition, it is necessary to restore peace and lift the blockade, so that Ukraine buys coal from Ukrainian miners, and does not deliver it by sea from other countries, providing jobs and salaries for foreign miners," Konstantin Pavlov stressed.
"I had the opportunity, in my time, to talk with one of the deputy ministers of the relevant ministry at a meeting of the Budget Committee. He then declared that the state unprofitable mines should be closed. I asked the only question: have you at least once in your life stood near the mine, I'm not talking about being in the mine? I went down, talked with miners to minus 1500 meters. What did you and the state do to modernize production, introduce energy-saving technologies? In addition to statements that the mines need to be closed, nothing more," the parliamentarian stressed.
