The Co-Chairman of the OPPOSITION BLOC, Prime Minister of the Opposition government, Boris Kolesnikov, said this on the TV channel “Ukraine” on Friday, February 9.
Answering a question about how Ukraine can protect itself against a possible global economic crisis, Boris Kolesnikov stressed that the key was the development of production. “Citizens of Ukraine have lived for 26 years in a financial and social crisis, so it is difficult to frighten them with something. The crisis of 2008-2009 was most successfully overcome by Poland, because it completely balanced the economy. It introduced recycling, it did not have a raw material economy. The more effective the production develops, the more Ukrainians will be protected,” the opposition Prime Minister said.
He also commented on the government’s plans to support farming. According to him, allocated funds are not enough for the development of the village. “The budget of the current year to support farming is UAH 7 billion – this is about $ 250 million. 13 years ago, there was allocated UAH 11 billion for the village – it was $ 2.2 billion. That is for 13 years, we reduced the support of the village by 10 times. In addition, now, according to the Association Agreement with the European Union, we have opened our borders, and Ukrainian enterprises can borrow loans at 20% per annum. With such a rate, it is only possible to sell weapons or drugs, or to steal the loan. So the support offered by the government is just one of the measures, it is positive, but not enough,” Boris Kolesnikov emphasized.
Speaking about the problems of training Ukrainian sportsmen who are engaged in winter sports, he noted that they can be solved by finding new sources of financing, and this can be done thanks to decentralization. “The reason is in the absence of decentralization. There are such kind of sports where there are sponsors – football, hockey, basketball. There are individual ones – where there are no sponsors. Therefore, Ukrainian youth cannot grow to the Olympic level. If the cash flows are decentralized, local councils will be able to help the future Ukrainian Olympic champions,” the opposition politician said.
