The Co-Chairman of the OPPOSITION BLOC, the Prime Minister of the Opposition government, Boris Kolesnikov, said this on the TV channel “NewsOne” on Friday, February 9.
He stressed that Ukraine should become a parliamentary republic. “I do not believe in the presidential model. All five presidents do not cause pride among Ukrainians. Therefore, this is not our model. The republic cannot be parliamentary-presidential or presidential-parliamentary. It can be either parliamentary or presidential. Ukraine should be a parliamentary republic, where the prime minister, in fact, is the head of state. The president should be elected in parliament, as it happens in Germany or Italy, and be responsible for observing the Constitution,” the opposition politician said.
According to him, in Ukraine it is necessary to change the system of power, and not to adapt to certain politicians. “Everything adapts to our personality. The mistake of our American and European partners, who are donors of Ukraine and help the current government, is what they put on personality. It is necessary to radically change the system,” Boris Kolesnikov said.
He stressed that the country needs a new Constitution. Draft amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine were developed by the Opposition government in 2016.
“150 deputies should be elected exclusively through open party lists. Then no one can buy up votes. Power should be simplified as much as possible, especially against the background of the fourth wave of industrialization and the digital revolution. You can control all areas with a tablet. Today, Ukraine is managed by 10 times more people than in the Ukrainian SSR. So what is our marketability?” the opposition Prime Minister emphasized.
“Central authorities should have defense, security, foreign policy and national infrastructure. All the rest, together with the means and powers, should be transferred to local councils,” Boris Kolesnikov said.
