This was stated by the deputy of the Dobrovelychkivka District Council from the OPPOSITION BLOC Anzhela Petrova, commenting on the extensive demographic crisis in which our country turned out to be.
"The material well-being of the family is extremely important for the development of the child. And if today many Ukrainians deny themselves the necessary because of the prices for food, utilities, medicines, then what is it that decided at this time for the birth of a baby? Baby things, food, diapers, medicines – the prices for all this are huge. And social payments for a child today in Ukraine are minimal to an astounding. The amount of benefits for the birth of a child for several years did not change, it is 41 280 UAH. Inflation has reduced the real price of this money in half, if not three times," Anzhela Petrova said.
She noted that four years ago, the amount of this social payment was established, while it does not depend on what kind of account the child is born in the family – the first or the fourth, and this assistance is paid within three years. "The first part of this manual is 20 320 UAH – must be issued within 2-3 months after the filing of documents. But many get only half of this sum, although these funds are especially needed in the first days, when it is necessary to buy clothes, a stroller, a crib and much, much more. But it happens that a child or mother needs medical help, or even an operation. The rest of the allowance is paid monthly for 860 UAH for three years. And what part of the expenses for the baby can this amount cover, if the package of diapers costs 400-800 UAH, And the baby food per week costs in the first year of the child's life 300-500 UAH? But mother need to eat somehow, and not only to eat", the politician says.
Anzhela Petrova stressed that Ukraine takes the 172nd place in terms of the birth rate in the world, which is a catastrophic indicator. Especially for the country from which young people go to work abroad for money, and in the east, too, young people are dying. "Demography can become a pitfall that will simply destroy the country. There is one more striking figure that stems from official statistics: 76% of large families are beyond the subsistence minimum. How do these families survive? What do children eat in them? It is not surprising that many women prefer not to formalize relations with the fathers of children and receive benefits as a single mother. But from December 1, 2017, only those of them whose income does not reach 1,700 hryvnia can claim help from the state, taking into account the incomes of family members living together. And if a woman signs such a benefit, for children who have not reached the age of 6, then the assistance will only amount to 1492 UAH, a mere penny by today's standards," the oppositionist stressed.
"How to raise a healthy child at 860 hryvnia per month, and my mother will not die of hunger? The answer to this question cannot be given by any woman who has decided on motherhood. How to ensure the population growth in Ukraine, which for the years of independence has lost, according to various sources, 15-20 million people – is also an open question. Authorities are about to change their social policy, otherwise they will doom Ukrainians to extinction," Anzhela Petrova summarized.
